HIBM dollar Campaign

HIBM dollar Campaign-

My roommates have worked tirelessly on this project and it's an amazing effort to say the least. Give it a look and read the stories of some of the patients afflicted with HIBM-one being my friend Kam who is a daily inspiration to be around :)
Full website: http://www.hibm.org/arm/home

From my pal Jason:

"With ARM we have created this dollar campaign with the hopes of raising 1 million dollars to enable human therapeutic trials to fight HIBM. We are asking for two things: First, go to WEBSITE (http://www.hibm.org/arm/dollar:home) to donate $1. Second, send this email on to all your friends and family.

In the Internet age, reaching one million people in that amount of time is surely do-able. If you are interested in becoming a bigger influence in this campaign, host your own dollar collecting campaign in your community, church, workplace, among your friends and family and donate what you've collected as one donation. Or you can post this story and image on your own blog and Facebook page. The more people we can reach increases the awareness of HIBM.

HIBM (Hereditary Inclusion Body Myopathy) is a progressive and debilitating muscle-wasting disorder caused by a gene defect. It touches those between the ages of 20 and 40 and, although progression is slow, it typically leads to total disability within 10-15 years. Studies suggest that HIBM may be easier to cure than many other disorders or diseases, the only limiting factor is funds.

Thank you for your support,

Jason Hazelroth "

Figure studies :)

Some quick figure studies from last night, I had a great time getting back into it :)

long time no post :(

But we're back! Did this quick sketch during some downtime (I really love me some Shadow of Colossus), hope to put some more goofy story stuff in :) I kinda want to paint monsters all day, so maybe some more tonight or some pirate ships trying to steal this mama's eggs.

updated: just added my lunch time thumb from my DS, that colors app is really great :D

J.C. Leyendecker study on the DS :)

A quick study of a great sketch by J.C. Leyendecker. Trying to get a little more painterly with the Colors Application. After seeing Rodney, Mindy pimp on their DS's I figure it was time I try something a little more "meaty". The Colors site has a great gallery feature where it does the playback just like the DS...
kinda kooky seeing it played back

I'm sure its different for everyone, but for me painting always feels like digestion. Good food and friends, some laughs, digestion.

quick painting on the DS!

A quick study of a couple at the local Pho place :)
I really like this colors app for the DS, great for quick studies and observations.
And another quick one from the park last night.

some face stuff and a quick painting.

Trying something new :)
Using color on the brush filters to color over value, seems to do the job.
The boat scene was a fun 20 min exercise, gonna try and do some more in this vein.

self portrait or me = lazy :P

A quick head painting of a fishman. I had fun rendering this out, basic surfaces to play with and was a fast 40ish minutes. I've been pretty busy lately so its good to just sit down and do something goofy :P

before bed face painting...

Its 1 am and I'm just cooling off a little. Its fun to do a face before bed, very relaxing. More to come I hope, seems like a good habit to make :)
(edit) added some more done on sunday afternoon.

artwork from my journal, some old, most new :P

Here are some samples of some of my journal work. I tend to keep this to myself but recently have been asked to pimp it some in the new Lang Magazine in Detroit. So here is an assemblage of some personal stuff :P. I think keeping a journal is a good habit, either to jot down whats on your mind or even to cope from time to time. Hope you get a kick out of it.

Steve Huston is my new god... sounds pretty serious don't it :D

a quick study from a Steve Huston sketch. this study is two fold, 1) i have to do this more often (and will) and 2) i needed to learn what art rage was good for (art rage is a program that fakes oils really really well, and its free-ish). i'm gonna go through my Huston file and do some more studies this weekend, some backs and knees and hands and, and, and... i'm pretty excited about it actually :D

edit: the ones on the top are new! thank you mr. Huston!
edit2: the girl images above are from hong ly's photo stock on characterdesigns.com. a great resource, especially if you put the viewer on slideshow and on a timer so its a gesture fiesta!

a quicky for old times sake :D

i'm doing some atlantian stuff for fun to stay sharp.
this is kind of an ominous sea sub sketch, soon to be fleshed out painting. i've put about an hour into it, maybe less but i think its ready for some serious attention.

some quick ones that i sweetend up, half hour on the first, 45 mins on the second and third.
i'm getting used to playing with values in a painting and learning that my values seem to be more grey initially. so using levels to get it juicy is making me a lot faster at getting colors that work and making me want to make colors to skip that part. nice to play around :D

what the ef! balloons n stuff!

lets see, i kinda felt like doing a cute one today, something just fun to look at i guess. besides, everyone loves balloons! this one was about 45 mins to an hour, i'm just trying to get faster at this. the second painting was done in 15 mins or so, just to practice value and composition, i would probably explore a better angle for a full color pass at this but i get the elements in this one. well kids, thanks for playing :D

i was surprised that i didn't post this as my introduction cause this is a coverspread for a little story i'm developing. lots to do with mod culture, the 60's (67-69), quadrifinia, the who, and a chase sequence! so its an oldie, but it looks too fun not to have up :D hopefully i get around to making the rest of the vespa gang.

it looks bigger, smaller...?

here is a study i did the other day. wanted to do more of them but time is short these days. about an hour or less of fun time with this gal, the photo i had as referance was quite nice and helped me move alot quicker. hopefully more to come, cause this stuff is exciting to me. maybe something with flowers or goonies inspired next.

Wednesday, April 26, 2006

here is a doodle of and idea. its a project i'm workin on for fun and so this is more of an introduction to my process, as messy as it is. i'm going to incorperate as much of my influnces as possible but still keeping it me. pretty much i'm aiming to bring my sketchbook to life.

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeetts a alive!

Saturday, April 22, 2006

some

i practiced some edgar payne stuff today, kinda getting the hang of the old style.

Monday, April 17, 2006

i practiced the color green!

here are some studies i worked out. blah blah (insert artist babble here). the short of it is that these were fun departures and strolls through the color green. delightful!

Thursday, April 13, 2006

didn't want to show it yet, but whatever

Here is a post in progress, I’m doing a bunch of thumbs based on art I like and stuff I wanted to do that wasn't work related. These are fun little guys and done in an hour and 2 for the boat cause I can't make up my mind (the latest version has flying whales now "me'n flying whales parted ways a long time ago, you see they burnt down my village").

Well anywho, more to come if I can squirrel away more time for this cool* type a stuff.

*cool and all things kinda cool are subject to change on artistic whims and tantrums thereof. So what is cool today absolutely doesn’t have to be cool tomorrow, ya dig.

here's a girl i used to know in painting form!

here's some sketches of people i saw during a lunch.
i like the old lady sipping away. the cowboy is a doodle for an illustration.

well lookie here, look who just showed up...

The beginning is always a difficult thing to sum up, so many things to say, usually a good time for one to explain themselves and introductions. So here goes my best shot...

My name is Imran, nice to meet you :D

Thank you for stopping by to visit my journal, its a work in progress and thats the way I think journals should be. No fluff, less polish and if I do right by it, more substance. Any and all comments are welcome, I appreciate any chance at understanding criticisms because all of its constructive.
Thanks again and I hope you enjoy your stay :D
